Dr Quah Lee Kiang

Dr Quah is the Director of the Real Estate & Construction Centre and the Real Estate & Construction Academy in Singapore. She has extensive regional and international experience in Project and Facilities Management & Maintenance research, advice and academia.

Dr Quah led the EU funded project BE4213 Condition Assessment and Maintenance Strategies for Buildings and Building Components, which among other things, sought to develop an objective building condition assessment system. This project formed part of ongoing research over the last 20 years which culminated in Dutch Standard NEN 2767 on Condition Assessment of Buildings, believed to be a ‘world first’.

Dr Quah’s professional and research affiliations include being Coordinator of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) Working Commission 70 on Facilities Management and Maintenance for a decade and past President of the Chartered Institute of Building Singapore Centre. She was also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Asia Board, Singapore Board and Asia Pacific Sustainability Board.

Dr Quah was conferred an Honorary Fellow by Oxford Brookes University for her work in real estate and construction education and the unusual impact her career has had on this particular academic field in Asia.

Er. Yong Shan Chi
Er. Yong, a Professional Engineer (Civil) has extensive design and construction management experience. He started work in the HDB, moving on to the private sector where he was involved in foundation engineering and precast concrete work. He was instrumental in introducing the Autoclaved Lightweight Masonry Wall system and was in the forefront of the UOB Tower project, the first building with unitised curtain walls. He has taught modules such as Building Envelope and Precast Concrete water-tightness for the CITI (now BCA Academy) and has been an Associate Trainer and Consultant with the Real Estate & Construction Centre for the past decade.

Lin Shiaw Ying

Mr Lin is an EMA Licensed Electrical Worker (Technician Grade). He has over thirty years working experience and lectures part-time for the ITE, delivering modules and customised courses on electrical installations and maintenance.

Ng Say Kiat

Mr Ng is presently the Vice-President of the Singapore Pest Management Association (SPMA). His experience in the field of Pest Management goes as far back as 1973, where he was Entomologist and later, Head of Vector Control & Research Department, Ministry of Environment. During this period, his work involved managing, planning, controlling and researching into urban vectors and pests and was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) for his 15 years of service to the Ministry. After leaving the Ministry, Mr Ng held various senior management positions in Rentokil, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Ikari Services and Fumiga from 1988 to 2017. Mr Ng also contributes his knowledge and experience by serving various Trade Associations and Government Advisory Committees, such as the Workplace Safety & Health Committee (Facilities Management), NEA Inter-Agency Dengue Task Force and the NEA – Advisory Committee on Hazardous Substances and Toxic Wastes (HSTW).

George Kyaw

Mr Kyaw is presently the Director of Horticulture at Wildlife Reserves Singapore where he is responsible for the Horticulture operations at Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Safari, Jurong Bird Park and New Mandai Park Development Planning. He had been the head of Horticulture at JTC Corporation for close to 12 years before assuming his present employment. Mr Kyaw has extensive experience in the various sub-disciplines of Landscaping, including Maintenance and Management, Nursery Management, Landscape Project Management etc. He holds an MSc (Life Sciences-Environmental Science) from Nanyang Technological University and is a Certified Arborist, Horticulturist as well as a Certified Green Mark Parks Assessor.
