INTRODUCTION TO TOWN PLANNING

1. Module Overview
The Introduction to Town Planning course is one of six modules in the SRP-REMMI Advanced Certificate in Real Estate Management and Maintenance. The course provides knowledge on town planning and control and the environmental, economic and social consequences of such policies and legislations.

3. Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module, trainees should be able to:
· Understand the town planning and regulatory process
· Discuss the social and economic implications of town planning
· Appreciate the importance of building conservation and preservation.

4. Course Leader

Evelyn Chang,
MSocSc, BSc(Hons), Dip. Bldg. Mgt., Grad. Cert. Intl. Arb.
Ms Chang is the Executive Director of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. She facilitates the institute in the promotion of use of arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution method for commercial disputes in Singapore as well as the region.

Prior to joining the Institute, she was actively involved in estate/facilities management which encapsulates the management of facilities and assets of commercial, industrial and residential properties, serviced residences and hotels. Having worked closely with property developers, real estate consultants, architects, engineers and contractors, she acquired specialisation in the management of wholly owned and strata-titled properties which includes tenant mix determination, tenant repositioning, asset branding/re-branding, property audit, asset enhancement, project management, facilities budget planning, procurement facilitation and pre-construction design input.

5. Certification  
An ‘Introduction to Town Planning Modular Certificate’ will be awarded to participants who have successfully completed the required assessments.

The modular certificate is credit transferable to gain advanced standing in the BSc Property & Facilities Management and Real Estate Management of the Liverpool John Moores University and Northumbria University in the UK respectively.
