REAL ESTATE MANAGEMENT & MAINTENANCE
Property Assistant Programme

1. Course Objectives
The Foundation Certificate in Real Estate Management and Maintenance provides integrated social-administrative-technical skills and will cover basic knowledge in the core areas of Real Estate and Building Maintenance, Communications, Service Culture and Work Ethics& Information Technology.

It has been designed to meet the following objectives:

  • Provide formalised certifiable training to upskill and enhance employability of the REMM workforce
  • Facilitate extension of technical/non-technical skills to multi-task in the REMM industry
  • Serve as an entry level/bridging course for those seeking to enter/cross over to the industry

This course is being used to re-skill structurally unemployed jobseekers for a Property Assistant job under the Singapore Workforce Development Agency's (WDA) Property Assistant Programme.

2. Course Structure

The course comprises of three modules:

M1:  Introduction to Buildings & Building Maintenance

  • Building Life Cycle and Parties Involved
  • Introduction to Building Materials & Technology
  • Introduction to Building Maintenance
  • Building Defects & Repair
  • Custodial Checking & Using a Checklist
  • Workplace Health & Safety in Maintenance Work

M2: Communication, Service Culture and Work Ethics

  • Grooming, Deportment and Etiquette
  • Interpersonal Communication Skills
  • Customer Service & Service Culture
  • Writing Skills & Common Business Correspondences
  • Support Skills in Meetings
  • Work Ethics & Work Life Quality

M3: IT in the RE Mgt & Maintenance Industry (Basic)

  • Introduction to IT in REMMI
  • Info Comm Technology (ICT) in Business
  • Word Processing, Spreadsheet & Presentations
  • Internet Application

 

3. Course Accreditation  
Several UK and Australian Universities have validated the course for exemptions and articulation into their built environment degree programmes.

4. Entry Requirements
4.1 Applicants are expected to have 'O' Levels (Credits in English and Mathematics). Applicants holding 'N' Levels/NITEC/NTC/ITE/CITI Certificates with WDA ESS WPLN Level 5 may also be eligible upon passing a written English test administered by RECC.

4.2 Applicants not meeting the above qualifications may be required to take bridging courses

4.3 Applicants with approved higher-level qualifications working in the industry or associated industries may be exempted in the relevant modules
