Building Custodian Job Re-design Programme

27 Building Custodians and Custodian Cadets received their Certificates from DPM and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, who was Guest-of-Honour at the Pasir Ris-Punggol Tree Planting Day.

Mr Heng Song Tiew, a trainee on the 20th intake of the Building Custodian Skills Certificate, wrote a letter to the Forum page of Lian He Zao Bao which was published on 12 November 2009.

Inroads Made


The Building Custodian Job Re-design Programme has made significant inroads since the graduation of its pioneer batch in August 2007.

Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs & Law, in his Guest-of-Honour address, expressed earnest hope that the positive process started 5 years ago when he launched the upgrading of the private security guard industry will be repeated for the Cleaning industry with the launch of the Building Custodian programme, which marks initial steps towards this direction.

Over 220 have since been trained in this Job Re-design Programme and are working in institutional buildings such as Parliament House, NUS and NTU, Country Clubs, Town Councils and commercial buildings such as One Marina Boulevard.
